मेवाड़ी
What the city actually speaks, under the Hindi it does business in
Practised for its own sake by the community that carries it. A visitor is a guest, not the reason it happens.
A Rajasthani language of the Marwari group, spoken across the old kingdom of Mewar, with its own idiom, its own folk poetry and no official status. Most speakers will tell you it is a dialect of Hindi; linguists broadly disagree, and the distance is greater than the word dialect suggests. Placed as an area because a language has no door — this pin is the old city, which is where you'll hear it in the bazaars rather than at hotel reception.
