Shilpgram

शिल्पग्राम

A built craft village, honestly labelled: revived, not found

Closed now Revived VisitWatchBuy

Interrupted and deliberately brought back — by a state body, a trust or a family. Real, but not unbroken.

A rural arts complex three kilometres out, with reconstructed dwellings from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra and resident artisans demonstrating and selling. It is a state cultural project, not a village that happened — and that is fine, provided nobody pretends otherwise. It is the easiest place in Udaipur to see several craft traditions being worked in one afternoon, and it is also the least spontaneous.
