An eighteenth-century lakeside mansion, taken apart and put back together
Interrupted and deliberately brought back — by a state body, a trust or a family. Real, but not unbroken.
Built for a Mewar prime minister in the 1750s, run down to near-ruin, and restored from the 1980s by the West Zone Cultural Centre into a museum of Mewari domestic life — turbans, puppets, glass and mirror work, a hundred-odd rooms. Restored is not the same as unbroken, and the label here says so.
