Practised for its own sake by the community that carries it. A visitor is a guest, not the reason it happens.

Women fast and process for eighteen days from the day after Holi, carrying painted images of Gauri and Isar — Parvati and Shiva — with unmarried women praying for a husband and married women for their own. In Udaipur it ends at the water: the images come down to Gangaur Ghat and go out onto Lake Pichola by boat. The largest genuinely participatory event in the city's year, and not staged for anyone.
