Practised for its own sake by the community that carries it. A visitor is a guest, not the reason it happens.

The palace picture galleries hold Mewar-school work from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries — dense, flat, high-horizon paintings in mineral pigment, with the ragamala and Ramayana sets that made the school's name. Go here before you go to a studio or a shop. It is the only way to tell, an hour later in the bazaar, what you are actually being sold.
