Sas-Bahu temples, Nagda

सास-बहू मंदिर, नागदा

Tenth-century carving, no priest, no bell — the practice ended a thousand years ago

Closed now Dormant Visit

No longer practised. The place or the object survives; the practice does not.

Two Vaishnavite temples near Eklingji, the larger and smaller of a pair whose name is a local corruption of Sahasrabahu, the thousand-armed. The carving is among the oldest and finest in the region and there is essentially nothing else there. Dormant, plainly: the building is intact, the worship is not.
