Curated walk

Following the Mewar painting lineage

Palace collection to working studio to Nathdwara — one tradition, four rooms, two days

5 stops · 61.5 km · 23 hr 23 min

Mewar painting is not four unconnected pins, it is a line: the court workshops that set the idiom, the families still working it in the old city, the Pushtimarg cloth painting it seeded forty-eight kilometres north, and the terracotta that shares its votive logic and none of its technique. Walking it in order is the difference between seeing paintings and understanding one.

Best time

Two days. The old city on the first, Nathdwara and Molela on the second, leaving early enough to catch a morning darshan.

When not to

Not on a day when Nathdwara's darshan sessions don't align with your drive — the second half of this route is worthless if you arrive between sessions. And not to Molela at all without arranging it first.

The dashed line is a reading order, not turn-by-turn directions — it runs straight between stops because the streets here do not, and pretending otherwise would claim a precision this map does not have.
